Each year 45,000 African Americans die from tobacco-induced diseases.  To combat the chief cause of this startling statistic, which includes thousands of preventable deaths,  Black Arts Los Angeles has partnered again with Amplify/The Ursa Institute to work to decrease tobacco related disease and morbidity.  Click the link to read about the programs and initiatives they are working on.

 "We are so pleased to continue this important work in our community," said Moza Mjasiri Cooper of BALA.  "The more people we reach and teach the dangers of smoking to at a young age, the more lives we will save."

BALA will work extensively with charter schools, to provide tobacco prevention education to middle school students, and participate  in other community events.

Black Arts Los Angeles is a community based organization working with the Los Angeles County Department of Health (LACOE) the Los Angeles County Office of Education, and the Los Angeles Unified School district (LAUSD) for the hosting of testing and vaccine clinics for children ages 5-12 and their families.
