The 10th Annual Juneteenth Heritage Festival, will take place in

Leimert Park Village (Degnan Blvd. & 43rd Place) on Saturday, June 15th, and Sunday, June 16th, 2019 from 10:00am – 6:00pm, come rain or shine.

 

The Juneteenth Heritage Festival is an outdoor event that provides an opportunity to showcase outstanding work from fine artists, handcrafters, fashion & jewelry designers, and food artists. The festival provides a platform to display and sell products to upwards of 2,000 customers who love and appreciate fine and unique hand-crafted goods, jewelry, fashionable clothing, sumptuous foods as well as great music. Deadline to apply is MAY 24, 2019.

 

Booth Fees

Artists/Fashion/Jewelry & Craft Vendors: $375/ share $425 (2 days) or $200 (1 day)

 

Corporate Vendor Booth: $500 Food Truck Vendor: $250 /1 Day: $150

A long history

Each year on June 19th, local businessman Jonathan Leonard held a celebration in Leimert Park that honored the end of slavery in Texas. There would be speakers, entertainers and plenty of red soda water, BBQ ribs and watermelon for the crowd. No matter the day of the week June 19th happened to fall on, you could depend on Mr. Leonard, a native of Houston, Texas, to hold his traditional celebration.

Continuing the legacy

Thus, Moza Mjasiri Cooper, founder of Black Arts Los Angeles, a non-profit organization saw an opportunity to create an additional celebration that would take place on the third weekend of June each year. This would allow more people to participate in the celebration, and so with the support of local community leaders, vendors and sponsors, the Juneteenth Heritage Festival was born.
